January 6, 2025 - Baraboo, WI - Farmer Angel Network held a strategic planning session to help us focus and prioritize our efforts in the coming couple years.

Sheena Fuglsang, Regional Community Health Coordinator, SW WI Region,

University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Extension, helped facilitate the discussion and brought expertise on the “Spectrum of Prevention” from the Prevention Institute.

FAN board members:

  • Completed strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and challenges assessment

  • Reviewed our mission, vision, values and previous priorities

  • Reviewed 2024 accomplishments

  • Mapped assets using the Spectrum of Prevention

  • Defined and prioritized strategies

  • Set implementation goals for the coming year

As a result, the board developed and approved the following:

  • Mission: All farmers will be resilient and have healthy, productive lives

  • Vision: To be a model for rural communities to appreciate and celebrate agriculture through farmer-to-farmer fellowship in order to decrease the stigma of mental health and promote the health of its community.

  • Strategies:

    • Use a variety of approaches to reach broad audiences to raise awareness of mental health challenges in the farming community of FAN.

      • Increase farmer-to-farmer fellowship opportunities

    • Work towards increasing and supporting the FAN volunteer base to distribute workload, retain members, and strengthen capacity for one-on-one support of farmers.

    • Grow the network of partners engaged in support of our efforts and adopt shared goals in our community.

Thank you to Danielle Sanders for helping coordinate the session and to all of those that participated.
