September 28, 2024 - Prairie du Sac, WI - Sauk Prairie community's grassroots effort called Be Kind SP 33 started to spread kindness and mental health/suicide awareness in honor of Sawyer Martin, a high school student who died by suicide. The Kindfest organized and hosted by BE Kind SP 33 was a huge success with over 1,500 participants in its first year.
The event was a family-fun filled afternoon at Culver Community Park with all kinds of activities including bean bag tournament, bingo, live band, art activities, food trucks, raffles, and more.
Farmer Angel Network was included as part of the mental health booths including area organizations with resources for the community. FAN volunteer Christy Updike was at the booth and available for discussions.
Thank you to the Be Kind SP 33 folks and the Sauk Prairie community for coming out to support this important work.
Proceeds from the event go back into the community's efforts to prevent suicide.
