Caring Cards
A huge shoutout to a Sauk County 4-H Youth Leader who created and donated caring cards for us to share with farmers. She handmade these origami cranes which represent healing, happiness and good luck in Japanese culture. These brought smiles to so many.
My Life Matters Wristbands
Melissa Simms with the Mitchell Hash Foundation of Charlottesville, Virginia heard the story of the farmer in Wisconsin in the land of 10,000 stories and was very moved. As well as praying for that family, she donated 100 wristbands which were created as a tool to help those in crisis. This is a small group of suicide prevention advocates encouraging those who struggle with suicide or have lost someone to suicide.
Little Hearts
Kathleen Jensen, The Little Heart Project Founder/Creator, donated hundreds of hearts. This project started in Wisconsin is reaching across the globe. Sauk County's Support People and Empower Recovery (SUPER) group began making these little hearts to spread the word in our area.
"When you find one of our hearts we want you to feel loved. The Little Heart Project is people leaving small knit or crocheted hearts with a note of encouragement wherever one goes; whether it be the grocery store, the library, the gas station, your hometown coffee shop or bar, the Empire State Building, or the Great Wall of China. Spread love, spread encouragement, spread kindness."
These heartfelt messages were handed out at our recent events, encouraging and supporting those who feed our communities.
Acts of kindness like this remind us that mental wellness in agriculture starts with connection. Thank you to these folks for making a difference!
